A PhD journey with strong support and a unique network
The program is designed for professionals who aim to pursue their doctoral project independently or within their company. With close and structured supervision, we ensure that the PhD journey is both manageable andachievable – and graduates are awarded twodegrees: the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and the Diploma of European Innovation. At the core of the program lies interdisciplinary and intersectoral support, advancing research priorities in innovation and leadership. Participants benefit from the outstanding academic environment of two strongpartners – Alma Mater Europaea – ECH and the University o fBamberg – embedded in a high-level European research network with strong industry collaborations. The program’s focus on innovation transfer, disruptive thinking, and leadership provides candidates with the skills and recognition to create impact in both academia and practice.
University of Bamberg
A German public university founded in 1647 as Universitas Ottoniano-Fridericiana. With around 13,000 students, the university combines a rich academic tradition with cutting-edge research. Each year, more than 8 mio. Euro in competetive funding from DFG, BMBF, and EU programs support its work. The core research areas are Education & Life Plans and Individual & Society. At the Chair of General Psychology and Methods, University of Bamberg conducts projects on emotional design for SMEs, future car concepts with Brose, perceived quality methods with BMW, and innovation leadership. The Importance of Innovation
In modern economic language, innovation and leadership have become everyday buzzwords that promise economic growth. However, these buzzwords often do not reflect disruptive innovations or even a misguided understanding of leadership. This raises questions about possible solutions. Therefore, the program focusses on questions of quality or value creation of innovations and leadership, as well as the transfer of approaches into concrete reality. Interdisciplinary and practical relevance are program’s central elements. In this sense, qualitative education at the interface between science and transfer is essential.

Study Program Summary
Academic partners
University of Bamberg and Alma Mater Europaea - European Center Herrenberg
Duration
Three years (six semester) part-time doctoral study program, especially designed for employed people.
Language
The official language is English. Meetings with the supervisor can, of course, also be held in the supervisor's and student's native language.
Procedure
Research-based and transfer-oriented.
Prerequesites
Master degree (min. 240 Credit Points, min. grade 2 or better) and fluent in the English language.
Locations
The doctoral study program is held in an hybrid format consisting of online and in-class participation for maximum flexibility.
Structure
Structured program consisting of courses, colloquia, conference participations, seminars, published papers and the oral defence.
Start
The start of the doctoral program is possible anytime (seminar start October).
